Christian Flag vs All Other Flags

Christian History

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”

Hosea 4:6

I was recently in Seattle, Washington, and I was amazed at how many hotels, restaurants, and stores had the LGBTQ Pride Flags in their front windows or hanging out front; they were everywhere!

I often have thought … why do we never see the Christian flag flying anywhere in our country!

For some years now we have seen the homosexual flag flying across our county unlike in all history past. And now we are beginning to also see the transsexual flag and an explosive of other immoral flags, below:

Six-Color Pride Flag
Progress Pride Flag
Trans Flag
Intersex Flag
Bisexual Flag
Lesbian Flag
Pansexual Flag
Nonbinary Flag
Asexual Flag
Genderfluid Flag
Agender Flag
Genderqueer Flag

The first single city in the Bible that God supernaturally destroyed was the city of Sodom, being controlled by homosexuals (Gen. 18).

In the Unites States today we are now having some cities controlled by homosexuals. I wonder how long God is going to let them keep existing. However, in God’s amazing patience and mercy, He said if there were only 10 righteous in Sodom, He would not destroy it. But there was only Lot and his family, so God burned up the city of Sodom.

From the beginning of time until the late 20th century, homosexuals had been referred to as Sodomites, from God’s judgment of homosexuals in Sodom. However, as Sodomites gained more civil control of our cities and culture, they have been able to change their identity from Sodomites to the more innocuous physiological name of homosexuals, and finally now to a glorious identity – “gay”.

But sodomy is not so “gay”. Sodomites are being judged by God’s irrevocable laws of nature (Rom. 1:17-32 & Gal. 6:7-8). Statistically, they have more relational breakups, sexual health problems, depression, suicides, and shorter life spans then normal heterosexuals, and far more than Christians.

Prior to 1962 sodomy was a felony in every state, punished by a lengthy term of imprisonment and/or hard labor. Some of the last states to fully repeal their sodomy laws did not happen until this year, 2023.

Yet today the Sodomites fly their flag with pride. But it all comes from a deep-seated spiritual rebellion against God. Sodomites painted their flag with God’s rainbow colors! God put His beautiful rainbow in the sky to remind us of His promise to never again judge the wicked by a world flood. But God makes clear He still judges the immoral (Rom. 1:17-32).

God saved righteous Lot and family from burning Sodom. God saved righteous Noah and family from the world’s flood. God is saving and will continue to save all the righteous in the world today. But all the righteous in the past, present, and future – are righteous for ONLY one reason:

“For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made righteous and right with God through Christ” (2Cor.5:21).

“For God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God” (Eph.2:8-9).

Now it is great to know that a Sodomite, just like all sinners, can be made righteous and saved!

Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God” (1Cor. 6:9-11).

Now for all of us who have been made right by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ – where is our flag, where is our Christian flag! A flag is only a symbol of what it represents. But that is important. Baptism is a symbol. Remembering the Lord with the bread and cup is a symbol. Most Christians don’t even own a Christian flag. Maybe you should buy a Christian flag for your church and fly it above all other flags, or for home, work, or car, and fly it sometimes. I wonder what the Lord might do.

However, I think it’s more important how we live and even share with others the good news of Christ than flying a flag. But just saying, what if we started seeing the Christian flag everywhere? Others are proud to fly their flags to conquer for their unrighteous causes, how much more should we for the only righteous cause and our King of kings.

Well, being in Seattle is what prompted me to write this article, but it was not so much because of not seeing the Christian flag but rather for this one reason:

When I have seen the Christian flag, it has been in a few, but sadly very few, churches. And here reveals the unwitting symbolic idolatry of present-day Christianity – whenever you see the U.S. flag and the Christian flag together on stands or on a flagpole, you always see the U.S. flag above the Christian flag and never the other way around!

God forbid! This is symbolic idolatry! It is putting the State above and over God. The State is NOT over God. God is over all states and nations. In fact, in every place where you see the U.S. flag or any flag put over the Christian flag, it’s proclaiming Jesus is not King, not Supreme, not with all authority, contrary to all the Bible (Mat. 28:18)! This is open blasphemy, public idolatry, even in churches.

Our present generation of Christians have unwittingly abdicated our Biblical and God mandated civil moral Law and authority. Historically, since the time of Christ, Christians never had such theological blindness in this area. Not until the 19th century did this Biblical mandate understanding begin to disappear from the American pulpits. Jesus’ Great Commission was NOT to disciple or teach the church or disciple or teach disciples, but rather to disciple and teach nation-states:

“Jesus said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations.’”

(Mat. 28:18-19)
